Dreams Fest creates fireworks in Bruff in memory of Dolores

Thursday 5th, 2019

Dreams Fest, which takes place this weekend, promises to set the town of Bruff alight in memory of Dolores O 'Riordan.

Dolores, who grew up near the town of Bruff, would celebrate her 48th birthday on Friday the 6th. The community plans to come together to celebrate this remarkable woman with a weekend of music, art, community and healing. Dolores passed away tragically in January 2018. The people of the town hope to mark her life with an unprecedented community effort.

The Festival is organised by a group of residents from the business, arts and music communities in Bruff. The weekend will host an official renaming ceremony on the Friday evening at 7 pm where the town's 'Morning Star' Park will be renamed The 'Dolores O 'Riordan Park. The ceremony will be officiated by local Councillor Brigid Teefy and rugby legends John 'Bull' Hayes and his wife Fiona Steed. Hayes and Steed combined are two of Ireland's most capped rugby players.

The weekend hosts an impressive line-up of local and international artists including one-time Cranberries lead singer Niall Quinn with his band Theme Tune Boy, The Flag Listeners, Parliament Square and Fox Jaw among others. New Age Messiah will close out the weekend with a very special Fireworks display taking place at 10 pm in the town.

The weekend is free-of-charge and the people of Bruff look forward to welcoming all visitors and fans of Dolores to celebrate her remarkable life.

Jack Clancy, who is an organiser of the festival and proprietor of Clancy's Bar in Bruff, commented ''We want to look after the visitors who come to the town, especially those who have travelled a long distance. We have visitors stopping in the town already curious about the Festival. A lot of people didn't know Dolores grew up near here. It's creating a great sense of pride and excitement."
