The Grunts is a four-piece punk-pop band based in Cork. The group came together in about 2004/5. The line up has since gone through a number of changes, however, the current version features the mainstays of Liam Maxx O'Shea [Vocals & Guitar] Eugene D'arcy [Vocals & Keys] Jason Fowley [Bass Guitar & Vocals] and James Spillane [Drums].
In the early days, the band contributed tracks to a number of local compilations - these included 'Crawl Right Back' which featured on 'Cork Is An Anagram Of Rock' [2004], 'Every Strange Trip' on 'Rewind' [2005] and a demo of 'Happy Christmas' which featured on the Freakscene compilation, 'Happy Birthday, Jesus' in 2006.
It was 2008, before the group released its own record. This came in the form of the 'Every Strange Trip' EP. This was followed by further EP releases - 'Crawl Right Back' in 2009 and 'Party Weirdo' in January 2010. The band was building towards the release of its debut album. 'Reflections In My Mirrorshades' finally arrived on 16th September 2010.
