Funzo Biography

Funzo is a ska / hip hop band from Kildare. Liam McDermott, the front man, had been performing as a solo artist. However, in 2007, he decided to put together a band. He was joined by Stig McDermott [Vocals], Kevin McNamara [Bass Guitar], Ronan Dempsey [Drums], Brian Coleman [Guitar] and Mark Whelan [Keyboards]. Since it's inception, the band has performed extensively which has seen the group build a broad fan base. Prior to officially releasing any material, the band distributed free CDs at the gigs. Since it's inception, the band has performed extensively which has seen the group build a broad fan base. Prior to officially releasing any material, the band distributed free CDs at the gigs. This proved to be a successful approach to spread the message. One such CD found itself into the hands of Shane MacGowan [The Pogues]. This resulted in Funzo getting to perform in support of the legendary performer and his band.

The band released its debut single 'This Christmas' in December 2010.
